    I"ve Been Cramerized :(

He'll tell you exactly how to make money! I thought stocks were tough until I started listening to him. Actually a lot of commentators have really great ideas. I've never gone wrong with them. Maybe you're just listening wrong?

Characteristics of cheap stocks vs expensive stocks

BUying cheap stocks and having them go up is clearly better than buying expensive stocks and having them go down. On the other hand, if you are selling, do you want to sell the expensive stocks or the cheap stocks. I can't figure that one out yet. Maybe someone can help?

    Good broker?

IB looks outstanding. I'll spend some time working through their web page. I'm currently using Man - they seem reasonable as a copmany and in their web page / access but their actual software is very problematic. I'm surprised at how difficult it is to enter orders and even get market data...

    Hedge Funds and Alpha

Fools and there money are soon parted. Mr. er Forbes, if you're a newbie that's too lazy to google, just admit it and post your question as such. If you actually have the money, DON"T invest it with anyone, you're clearly far too foolish to evaluate any hedge fund and are therefore extremely...

    Good broker?

I'm potentially looking for a firm as well. I trade futures - currency, interest rate, energy and metals. Unforunately, there doesn't seem to be a lot of places that give net access to all the international markets. I'm low frequency and will be placing mostly market on open and market on...

    Looking for a new firm

I say starting with 500K per day after blowing up is a little timid. How can you make a $M a year unless you trade size? Take a shot! If you can do ten times that volume I'm sure there will be a few commission shops that will take a look at you.

Liberal media? This study says otherwise...

I wish the media wasn't so right wing. I've only seen hours of coverage on Cheney's hunting accident. For some reason, they keep insisting on implicating the friendly chap running Iran and accusing him of terrible things, like building nukes. Can't they see that nuclear energy is the logical...

    IB Horror Story

This is a good example of laziness and incompetence running over Joe Retail. If you aren't on your toes, the big firms will screw you. They don't care about you. Learn to watch your back.

To make the yield curve normal

I knew reading these forums would pay off. I bet no one has thought of the connection between issuance and interest rates! We're a step ahead boys!

Question on Austrian Economics and Inflation

What dollar devaluation are you talking about? You claim 8% per year for the last 9 years. Name a currency (including gold) which has appreciated by 100% against the dollar in that time. As for CPI, how much of what you buy today is actually more expensive than it was 9 years ago wihtout a...

    WHY GM will blow up...

Big Hog, that's a great post. ALl that crazy capitalist nonsense about efficiency is so overated. Why not pay the workers more than they're worth? Why expect them to work 40 hour weeks in the first place? I sure don't want to. Can you get financing and start a company that pays people a...

Question on Austrian Economics and Inflation

It's hard to imagine that a thread that started by asking the question "why is 20% inflation bad" has only one decent response and a fair amount of people actually arguing in favor. Let's grow up people and get to know our business. High inflation is bad because it imparts volatility into the...

    WHY GM will blow up...

it's still a pretty dumb buy by keko. this was as situation that was only going to get worse, regardless of the implicit put that gm management has from the u.s. govt. pension insurance and underfunded pensions are an absolute disaster as is the insane mortgage tomorrow for today comp /...

Why the 10 year yield is going to 5%

this is only valuable post i've seen in days. let's get more like this: Here is a quote from bloomberg. " Indirect bidders, which include foreign central banks, bought 21.1 percent of the $13 billion in five-year notes, down from 45.8 percent last month, the Treasury said. The drop in...

    WHY GM will blow up...

that is some good stuff big hog, good stuff! who cares about relative competitive advantage? let's just pay the workers what they DESERVE, and ignore the economics! workers need big healthcare in case they get sick, big pensions for when they retire, big vacations and big comp to enjoy the...
