I replied to this thread because the original poster struggled with the same issue and same problem as I did. The issue was regarding the daytrader pattern trading rules to options traders which have been in effect for over a year, as opposed to IB's sudden application of those rules to options...

I was pissed off about this all day and was doing some digging on this issue. Since IB only allows (non-futures) options trades in margin accounts, it's arguable that pattern daytrader applies to options too. My beef is that this came out of nowhere after much discussion and explanations...
