    Alternative to IE?

Its been more stable than Opera for me. I hardly use IE anymore, although I must admit I think I'm gonna give myIE2 a try.

    Alternative to IE?

Mozilla is a little slow, and Opera is a little buggy. I've been using Mozilla FireFox for the last week and I really like it. It's tabbed, fast as hell, and seems to render websites just as well as IE.

    Ameritrade Trailing Stop?

Did anyone notice Ameritrade introduced a trailing stop option in their interface in the last few weeks? Cool stuff.. Now I don't have to update my stops daily/hourly.

    Calling All Trend Traders

Pardon my noobishness here, but I have a couple of questions for you. You're basically trading a MACD variant right? But instead of 12/24/9 you run a 5/13 on a 1min and 5 min chart? did I understand that correctly? The reason I ask is, right now all my trading is placed manually, but...

    TA of your date

Entry signal.. heh heh As with trading, the key to your long term success is 'Money Management' - and of course, knowing when to dump your 'losers'.

Does IB ever respond to e-mails?

That's debatable... but I digress... As far as being off-topic goes, since the original question of this thread was answered, I didn't see the harm in going off-topic. But, back to my original question, why the preference for Java? You didn't actually answer it.

Does IB ever respond to e-mails?

Just out of curiousity, why java instead of C++ ? I've never seen a Java app that looked or ran as good as it's equivalent C++ app. Java is slow, buggy, and ugly. I don't understand why people still choose Java for GUI apps. You might say portability, but how many people do you have that...

    What is a scalp?

Well, I don't know if I'm past the NASD day trading rule per se, because I don't get the 4x margin that true daytraders have. And I suppose they COULD enforce their margin call if they wanted to, but when I called techsupport when they put the call on me originally, they said they didn't...

    What is a scalp?

The short term swings I'm doing now would be more expensive with IB than with Ameritrade. A round trip at Ameritrade costs me $22 and I can trade as many shares as I want. Typically, I trade around 5000 share lots with 1 to 3 dollar stocks. With IB, this round trip would cost me $60 (unless I...

    What is a scalp?

From a beginning trader perspective (myself included in that generalization) I understand a scalp to be a special kind of day trade. In a scalp, you buy (or short) a stock, and sell (or cover) it very quickly, taking a very small profit. Doing this over and over again yields larger profits...

    Dual processors needed?

Programs have to be specifically written to use more than 1 CPU at the same time. That dosen't mean you won't benefit from dual CPU's in general. For starters, your OS will use both CPUs. Most software is written "single threaded" which means, one CPU. Software that is "multi threaded"...

Bubba, I just wanted to let you know, I'm personally inspired by your words and have shared them with some friends over at Livejournal.com at http://www.livejournal.com/users/chipware/25804.html I'm 27 now, but I wish I had a mentor like you when I was a teenager...

    Execution on ISLD ECN

On June 25, Ameritrade stiffed me on a cover on LEND when I watched the trade price float right through my limit order price. I cancelled the order and figured I'd go 'market' instead only to have my cancel order sit in the 'pending' queue for 8 minutes. When I called Apex support, JUST as the...
