once and for all FX broker that's real deal

I have traded with CMC in Australia. It is a marketmaker/bucket shop, and like FXCM engages in all the typical tricks (requotes, stophunting, outrageous finance charges - especially on exotic pairs). They make their money like FXCM does from heavy advertising (as well as tight spreads for...

Laptop + external monitor travel advice?

Hi, Yes I'll make sure I check that before I make a purchase. Others on the forum did say that they got 2 external monitors to work with the old dell 9300 inspirion - so that video card must have supported it.

Laptop + external monitor travel advice?

Thanks for your reply Luto. Regarding the stands - I was planning to remove them and put them in my check-in luggage, but yes they are a bit bulky - so a foldaway stand sounds a good idea. I looked at the VTbook - it looks a much better concept than the Matrox solution Nitro mentioned...

Laptop + external monitor travel advice?

I'm thinking of upgrading my notebook soon to a Dell Inspirion E1705 (newer version of 9300) or similar. Others on this forum say you can run two external monitors off the 9300 (plus the notebook screen?). For trading when I am away from home (primarily for longish trips) it would be...

    Dell 8400 Video Card Question

Just to update what I finally put in. I ended up buying a Matrox G200 cheaply on ebay as i couldn't find an original (non-3rd party manufacturer) ATI card locally. Anyway, the Matrox works great - runs 2 monitors, while the Dell supplied ATI runs the other 2. Thanks again to gnome and...

    Saxotrader pros & cons

I had an account with Saxo Bank in Australia about 2 years ago. I had to close the account because Saxo failed to get approval to operate on a retail basis in Australia. IMO they have a great platform, but their fees are high. I did not trade with them actively enough to reach any conclusions...

    Dell 8400 Video Card Question

I am buying from Dell Australia - the 6800 GTO is an option here, I don't know about in the US. (A$=Australian Dollars)

    Dell 8400 Video Card Question

Thanks for everyone's comments and advice. I bought the Dell 8400 with the cheapest video card (128MB ATI Radeon X300 SE) and 1GB Ram. I'll probably look for 1 or 2 ATI Radeon 7000 or similar for the additional monitors. I have seen the good recommendations for the Matrox G200 elsewhere...

    Dell 8400 Video Card Question

Well, I was just going to start with 1G (2x512) Ram and 4 monitors, but it is upgradeable to 2G (4x512) if I need it. I would probably buy it from elsewhere as I doubt Dell is the cheapest for memory. Do you think at least 1.5G is needed for 4 monitors / 2 video cards?

    Dell 8400 Video Card Question

Thanks for that. Glad to hear the ATI Radeon 7000 worked for you no problems. The 8400 Dell comes with 3 PCI slots so it gives me space to add a couple of ATI cards as you suggest.

    Dell 8400 Video Card Question

I am looking at buying a Dell 8400 but want to be able to support 4-6 monitors. The video cards they supply are all PCI Express x16 and support dual monitors. I just want to use my setup for trading and not gaming, but am concerned some cards may be worse than others in terms of conflicts...
