    money equals happiness ???

Yes, flaunting your wealth is the only way to go if you are rich. How about a poor person playing the rich (via easy credit) - is that okay with you?

    IB's Screwed Up Quotes

If past experience is any indication, ARCA has several quote connections and apparently RealTick gets the good ones, and IB gets access to less quality connections. If I were to guess, I would guess that ARCA is the source of the problem, not IB. If IB were so bad, why don't the Island and...

    Newbie Trading Log

You might consider opening an account at Interactive Brokers. Your 310 share order in and out would cost $6.20. Other places are cheaper than $15 as well (PointDirex, TradeStation).

What's up with IB speed today?

    $.12, right?

    illegal shortsale/profit removal

This is incorrect for retail accounts at IB. If you are flat and you specify a sale, then it is deemed a short sale whether you like it or not. IB won't "get you." I don't know about non-retail accounts.

    Whoa Baby! What happened?

This implies to me that someone arbitrarily determined that the action up to 856.00 was "normal".

    Whoa Baby! What happened?

I don't believe IB will automatically liquidate equities during pre or post-market. I believe the auto-liquidation for equities only occurs between 9:30am-4:00pm. Please correct me if I am wrong. Not sure how it works for futures.

    IB 1099 Statements

    1) Yes, it doesn't exist anymore, but for tax purposes in the year 2002 it did exist. 2) If you traded stocks in 2002 in your universal account, your 1099 form for that account should show stock transactions.

    Accounting/Tax Software of Daytraders??

Reread my post on the bottom of page 4 of this thread. Not only was IB's way of reporting their 1099-B forms legitimate, but if your total sales on your tax form did not match what IB reported on its 1099-B form, then you did something incorrectly. It is a red flag only if you incorrectly...

Mcdonald's -- "We Love to See you Smile!"

There has to be a penalty for bringing lawsuits like this to court. I.e., if the lawsuit is deemed to be frivolous, the lawyer's license should be revoked. The risk-reward ratio for lawyers is ridiculously in their favor.

    TWS and Globex matching engine

What if IB's software doesn't resend orders this way to take advantage of this queueing behavior? It may be worthwhile to double check with IB on this issue.

    Claiming Traders Status

Good question. Got this from a Yahoo page: Man, that is irritating. Got to move to a state that doesn't tax Roth IRAs on withdrawals.

    Is TMBR cheating

With a market order, it seems like the specialist could definitely hose you just as badly as an instant execution with TMBR could. Are you guaranteed price improvement with the specialist? Maybe next time put in a limit order at the best bid. If you get a fill through TMBR, then great. If...

    Is TMBR cheating

If you are really concerned about it you can ask IB to give you the audit trail for your order. My take on what happened: TMBR was not on the inside bid initially (they probably have an undisclosed limit price that they are willing to fill at) so the order was sent to the NYSE - the bid...
