    This market is ridiculously high

Johnny Cash sang it best in "I Walk the Line" Isn't that what we as traders do? Long or Short :) Short or Long and the beat goes on

    Remote w/Echo, Andover, or GreenTree

No agenda - Just saw previous post. I have virtually the same system. Works for me except I do need to add another monitor.

    Remote w/Echo, Andover, or GreenTree

I trade remote with Echo and have done so for the past year. I've been very satisfied with the use and execution of the Sterling Pro platform. It's been very reliable and I can't remember a time system was down. Most of the time any problems have been with the ECN's especially ARCA but don't get...

Very Little Opportunity Day Trading Stocks

I agree with you on the big cap stocks both NYSE and NASDAQ, so I've started experimenting with others that are not in the limelight as much and had a fair amount of success. Sometimes I go with a stock of the day and because of the very heavy volume the entries/exits are manageable such as NVDA...

When has a stock run out of steam?

I experience the same thing, in fact I got into NVDA myself after hours yesterday at 17.32; it had closed at 16.06. I took my profits at the first sign of a stall shortly after the open at 18.84 and then watched it go up and up etc. Later in the day I saw a story on Briefing.com that NVDA had a...

reversal to upside day shaping up

Kudos on the call; I had a nice profit today as well. I do feel with the war winding down, Mr. Bush is now concentrating on the economy and his tax package. I got a kick out of Jim Cramer gushing on CNBC today as being one of nine invited to the White House today to talk about the market and the...

    Do traders pay FICA?

To all, I stand corrected! Range, thanks for the IRS website reference. No, I will not be preparing traders' tax returns but excuse me while I go wipe the egg off my face.

    Do traders pay FICA?

Let me clarify. I am presuming the retail trader is treating his trading activities as a business, classified as a sole proprietor and such is filing schedule C and is filing a profit or loss from the business and deducting business expenses such as computer, software, educational workshops...

    Do traders pay FICA?

Don is correct. Retail traders are required to pay FICA. Proprietary traders are usually class B members of a Limited Liability Company, classified under the IRS Code as daytraders and exempt from FICA.

    Playing the market Long-Only.

One of my trading accounts is a cash only account within an IRA with less than $25K and traded thru IB. No you can't go short and yes you have to wait 3 days for settling before having access to funds so after trading this account for 2 years I have found you really need to pick your spots. Most...

    EBAY

There's a very old saying on Wall Street that "once a stock hits $90. then it will go right to $100." We shall see.

    Market orders for SPY

I agree with several of the previous posts. Instead of trying this, you might as well donate your dollars to your favorite charity especially if you're trading SPY on intra-day scalps. Also beware of using ARCA at all; see archived thread on ARCA execution.

When are LLC's required to get you your K-1?

Ditto, trade with Echo who said they are supposed to be mailed end of March.

    Dangerous Times Ahead

I knew someone was going to catch me on that; tried to edit post to show "new" moon, but didn't get to it in time. By the way yes I admit I have in my early days of trading been long when I wanted to be short or vice-versa. Learned that lesson pretty quick. Thanks for the heads up. :)
