Consistently Profitable Traders - Going Red to Black

I have been profitable (mild) for years, but not very consistent. The real break through to become very consistent came from applying hedging and options strategies to what I've known, that changes everything. Now I'm near my all time equity curve high with lower volatility, can sleep better...

Exchange Traded Notes & Credit Risk

Yes ETN is more risky because of counterparty risk. DXO will go to zero if oil drops 50% in a month, starting from the first day of every month, if I remember correctly.

Career Opportunity...what do you all think?

We have the same education background, and I'm from Canada as well. Let's put it this way, I went thru trading jobs at SwiftTrade, a global macro hedge fund, and now in a tier 1 investment bank, I believe I'm qualified to give you my 2 cents. Knowing what I know now, and how people got...

    Execution Trader?

Expect to pay something around 100k a year, that's including bonus. How do you vary the bonus and basic salary equation, it's up to you. You are paying a trader who helps you to minimize slippage, it can't be anyone on the street. The ideal candidate would help you to beat the slippage of your...

Goldman Sachs Says Fed Will Cut Rate to 4.5 Percent in 2007

In early June, GS said that there would be no rate cut in 2007, not a chance. That statement screwed up my trades badly. Just a reminder, not saying that the rate cut won't happen.

Is volitility linear vs position size

Bigger trading range is just a result of volatility, they are not the same thing. Imagine a W shape day is more volatile than a V shape day with the same trading range. Your calcuation of ATR could also be too long when compared to the volatility generated by some very recent market...

    AWX, under bookvalue, profitable, growth

Forgot I had a bid out there at $7.5... now I'm in AWX. Though the position is underwater, it's also below book value. Insiders were selling at the top, but they were also buying at around $5. So I'm a bit in between now.

Websites for Hong Kong stock market

I've recently started to trade the Hong Kong stock market through IB. However, I have a hard time to find some quality financial websites. Any recommendation? I especially want to find a good charting website that is simular to StockCharts.com. I'm also looking for stocks screening website...

    Quant?

You forgot one thing, learn how to program in multiple languages. Maybe studying physics will help too.

I now declare the NYX trade to be over

Whatever is showing on your chart, it's not a triangle JMHO. If there is such a triangle, connect the support line between 80.51 and 79.31, NYX is still within the decending triangle. When the breakdown occurs, your projected target would be right.

    Prop Firms in Hong Kong

Thanks. My ex-prop firm doesn't have remote trading. Swift Trade has two offices in Hong Kong, both are pretty far away from downtown (Central). My original post is to get the contact for the Hong Kong branches, as the website doesn't provide them. There is a company from Toronto willing...
