Another observation: If I place an order, say for example, a sell at the prevailing high bid, it seems more often than not, the open interest as displayed in the 'level 2' screen does not reduce the number of units available. Especially if the number of units available is a nice round number...

I don't know. You could try their demo system. Market data might not be accurate, but it would probably give you an idea what the spreads are like.

It was actually with Oanda that I noticed the change in rates.

Can you tell us how often (if ever) a non trading client of yours (e.g. bank) accepts your customer's limit orders within the spread? Do they even watch them? Or does the 3d forex platform only tend fill these limit orders (assuming another trader doesn't take it) when they match the quoted...

Thus the cost to short the pair, and thus the payout of you were long the pair? I think we're discussing the same perspective :D

You pay interest on the currency you 'borrow' and get paid on the one you 'buy'. If your borrowing Yen to buy into another, you wont get paid as much (or will pay more depending)... Is this logic not correct?

I've been doing just this. The bigger concern is market swings. Yeah the position is hedged, but you need to keep a whole lot of cash in whatever account is going down to prevent a stop.

I've noticed the lending cost on USD/JPY has jumped in the last day or so over at Oanda. Perhaps in anticipation of a further rise should the BOJ raise interest rates....

The wall street journal has a good article on currency brokers. Sorry, I don't have the link to the non-pdf version.... http://online.wsj.com/documents/print/WSJ_-B001-20070106.pdf

I have, and you are right. USD/JPY happens to be a pair that would be a bad one to hedge with. Look at all of them.

Thanks for replying. I really don't mean to ream you guys, but I wont stop being a skeptic. I notice that 3d Forex is located in 1926 E Maple, El Segundo, CA. In fact, sharing the exact same address as MB Trading futures. This doesn't really put me at any ease about my suspicion about the...

I would think the most accurate answer would be the one with the most volume. But that is nigh impossible to answer as that is private information... Again the problem is currency exchanging isn't regulated. I just found an article last night that there is a guy who setup a forex broker in...

One man's garbage another man's gold. I like their rates right where they are. Makes longer term hedging less expensive.

Fast money word on the street:

Haha. All I meant was that if you find a relationship between two things, it doesn't mean that they are because of eachother. If the dollar is falling for instance, it affects every currency market in which it is a pair. If it is falling in one, it doesn't mean it is because it is falling...

I have researched forex brokers on countless websites. EFX has some plusses and minuses, overall, better than most of the alternatives, but they have some important shortcomings. I am a customer of theirs, and I have provided enough volume trading with them to fill their pockets with upwards...
