    Preparing for a Trading Interview

Same type of process I went through. Apparently some people don't realize that there are different kinds of trading firms. I'm sure the threadmaker's interview is for a firm where you start off as a junior trader/assistant and learn from the experienced guys. Then you graduate to trader...

Breaking in with a decent firm

I thought Gekko said it pretty well... "Most of these Harvard MBA types - they don't add up to dogshit. Give me guys that are poor, smart, hungry - and no feelings. You win a few, you lose a few, but you keep on fighting."

If this is the Month That Faith Is Lost In Obama, Markets Crater

I strongly disagree. People can't think for themselves these days. The right choice of words and enthusiasm will be enough to lead people on for years, especially since it's so easy for the administration to blame Bush for everything. However, I do agree that if the masses DO lose confidence...

    Kershner Trading in Austin

I just signed with Kershner very recently (don't start for a few months). I'm really looking forward to working there. I was very impressed with the office/staff when I went down there and I have heard great things from there coaching. I'm not sure about these "classes" you're talking about...

Major Bank to Collapse in a few days

Whether or not this is actually true, I'm still shocked that C has made it this far.

    Obama Rips Hedge Funds

Here here! In general, Obama is saying these funds are evil because they didn't accept what they thought was a bad deal. How the hell is that wrong? You expect the fund managers not to act in the best interest of the fund? Am I looking at this situation wrong, or is this about the most...

    Susan Boyle

In all honesty, if she was average looking to attractive, she would never had made the news or become a public figure. I thought her performance was very good and I thought it was great how she stunned everyone, but looking from a pure musical standpoint, there are much better out there. I...

President is going to kill free market

The free market has been dead for a long time, we're just moving even further away from it now. I was actually pretty surprised (and pleased) to see the administration have a little bit of a back bone and tell GM that their proposal was not acceptable and that they may very well need to file...

The biggest ponzi scam... bigger than madoff

The US COULD get out of debt (theoretically, but I don't think there's any way we'll be able too) if we become a net exporter, correct? However, our whole country is addicted to consumption more ways than one and we really don't produce much. Coupling that with the extreme devaluation of the...

BofAmerica, After Receiving 45 Billion Taxpayer $, Raises Base Pay From 180k to 300k

You're only kidding yourself if you don't think an MD from B of A couldn't get a job at another top bank or shop. There have actually already been guys leaving TARP banks and going to other banks. As far as the lower guys go, they are working 90 hours a week and making 65k total. That's close...

BofAmerica, After Receiving 45 Billion Taxpayer $, Raises Base Pay From 180k to 300k

I would assume they are doing this because bonuses will be almost non-existent. Makes sense to me, but the publicity isn't really a good thing. Boutique firms. Better banks. Startups. Smaller/more discrete firms in general. It's been a very common topic of discussion lately.

European Union President Calls US Economic Measures 'A Road to Hell'

But I thought all we needed was hope and change?!
