How many people have lost during trading?

I lost around $120K the first two years of trading, including both my money and company's money. Got fired 2 times. After 2 and a half years of losing in the markets started turning it around and since made 4 times that. I really thought I would never make it as a trader and my parents told me...

    LSE trading

I haven't gone to work today as I have a terrible headache and cold. I have to be 100% alert when I trade. Slept 13 hours last night :) but still coughing a lot. About the prop shop I'm at, I haven't had to put up any capital. They backed me 100% and they even gave me a "salary" when I...

    LSE trading

How hard is it to get into a prop firm? The one I'm at doesn't require you to put up any capital. I traded for 4 years for a company and decided to join this prop firm to get a better split and have more size (although I did have to start with small size, which was hard enough to cover desk...

    LSE trading

just went long 3000 Xstrata's because there's so much volume going on which suggests it might break to the upside. Next resistance would be 40.20.

    LSE trading

yes. 318 is the number of fills. So if I trade Barclays say with 5000 shares and get hit once it would cost me 1.80 pounds. If i get hit 5 times then it's 5 x 1.80. I don't physically hit the button 318 times. So yesterday's cost was 604.40 pounds. This morning, Went long Billitons...

    LSE trading

I don't use a broker. I trade at a prop firm in London and have direct access to the exchange. I do around 300 trades (fills) a day which averages to about 1.80 pounds a trade. Today was an ok day. Made 3.7K with 318 trades. Traded Vodafone, Billiton, Rio Tinto, Anglo American, Xstrata and...

    LSE trading

Hi there, I have decided to start a journal for my trades in the LSE stocks. I trade mostly miners (Rio Tinto, Anglo American, BHP Billiton, Xstrata) and also banks, Vodafone and anything that moves. I trade with 300K pounds in capital. I trade using RTS and Esignal for charts, and Reuters...

    Economics BS degree

I don't think an Economics degree helps much in becoming a successful trader. After all, trading is just a big poker game. The most important skill you need to master is money and risk management. It's not so much about trying to figure out where the market is going to go next. You can't control...

Can money management alone create any edge?

He found a better system which increased the odds of 50/50 in his favour and made him even more money. He's a multimillionaire trader who had nothing to do so our top Chicago boss hired him as our new boss cuz the old boss (London boss) is going to Hawaii to set up his own hedge fund!!

Can money management alone create any edge?

The boss at my trading firm did an experiment a few years back on money management. He flipped a coin and entered a trade accordingly (heads for going long and tails for short) with a trailing stop and good money management. Guess what? This system made him a lot of money.
