Anyone pulling money out of MF Global?

Right, no SIPC for futures accounts. I was commenting on benwm's post where a $100k limit is mentioned. The Karl Denninger linked article also mentions $100k. Interactive Brokers has a twist on SIPC and futures accounts in their universal account: *** Customer securities accounts...

    The ultimate carry trade

If I understand this trade correctly, there is no offset. Borrowing the yen is to take advantage of the low margin rate, and allow leveraging up somewhat. If the yen increases in value, that is just fine, one would be holding Japanese denominated assets after all. The assets can...

    The ultimate carry trade

Not necessarily. Natural gas trusts were cheap in 2001 AND paid a good dividend. How can you arb an entire sector when it is out of favor? Another way of putting this is that there are short term arbs and long term arbs. Natural gas trusts got "arbed" eventually.

    Empire of Debt

I thought it was one of those rare books that completely changed my view of a subject. Or another way of looking at it: it is one of those rare books that integrated my previous experience into a complete understanding. For example, the description of the circumstances and results of...

    two CPU's?

That isn't correct. Vista will ship in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Microsoft isn't going to give away the huge upgrade market. They want as many current PC users as possible to upgrade.

    Crash is Upon Us

That is a fine post there, Hydroblunt. Thanks. HolyGrail: Just because we are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't trying to sell to us. Seriously though, I don't see any paranoia there: I see reality.

An Inconvenient Truth: Gore is wrong

Ross Gelbspan, journalist and author, wrote a 1995 article in Harper's Magazine which was very critical of Lindzen and other global warming skeptics. In the article, Gelbspan reports Lindzen charged "oil and coal interests $2,500 a day for his consulting services; [and] his 1991 trip to testify...

    CANSLIM is CRAP-slim

The key with any system is knowing under what market conditions to use it. You learned something that is very valuable. There is a good chance we are in a bear market now. My friends using CANSLIM didn't do so hot with it in the last bear market... It is very good with the right market...

    US approves cervical cancer drug

I am interested to see how much cervical cancer this vaccine prevents. The drug companies use their own special form of bogus math to calculate the efficacy of many drugs. For example, Lipitor is pretty useless and dangerous to boot. See: http://www.lewrockwell.com/sardi/sardi54.html for...
