I want to thank everyone for taking the time to offer your advice and opinions. I just took the time to carefully read all of them. It's one thing to consider a career change like this but as some of you have stated the end result can be a lot different than what I'm expecting. It's invaluable...
Hello,
I'd really appreciate some advice as I have a lot to consider. I'll try and keep it short. I'm a corporate pilot, been flying for over 16 years. It's been an amazing ride but the work conditions in my business keep deteriorating. It's been a lot of fun but being constantly on the road is...
BTW the idea was to hedge short term. USD should keep going up, just taking a breather vs the CAD and will scale back in once it stabilizes. So go dollar!
Thanks for all the advice! It took a while to get me head around it but the lightbulb finally lit up. I made it more complicated than it needed to be. Started the day believing I had found the best hedge through options, then considered forex and finally realized the simplest way is to scale...
I appreciate your input. FXC has little liquidity and the options do add a level of complexity which is fine. Your response is spot on OTM, I'm now looking at expanding my IB account to include forex. With 40 to 1 leverage I can buy the needed CAD to hedge. Victor it's a good idea but I don't...

Unfortunately my account is around 50K. What about options? Otherwise some other ideas that I know of is to short the DXY or UUP etfs. Or maybe look into shorting a triple or double US dollar ETF. That would give some leverage.
Hi,
I would really appreciate some suggestions on how best to hedge US dollar exposure. I'm a Canadian that trades US equities. I've ridden the dollar move up by being fully invested in USD which has worked nicely. But I lack experience and a plan on how to hedge against the dollar when it...
BTW two books on short selling I've read are How to Make Money Selling Stocks Short and Trader Vic. Those are good, but for the time being I'm looking for something more mechanical/technical, til we're in a confirmed downtrend.
Hey,
I'm putting in a lot of research and effort in learning about and testing different short selling strategies/systems. There aren't many good books on the subject. I'm specifically looking for strategies that you can scan stocks for. My time period is days to weeks, even months. I'm more of...
