That's weird, I've never experienced that. Opening the account was pretty straightforward after I gave all the relevant documentation. I know bank accounts though can be difficult to open as a non-US person.

What's the benefit of DAS over thinkorswim? I know a lot of people use DAS and swear by it. I haven't ever used it myself and from first glance didn't really see anything superior over thinkorswim.
Thinkorswim by TD Ameritrade supports mac, as does TWS by Interactive Brokers. If you want something generic for Mac, MotiveWave is probably your best bet unless you run virtualization software.
IB Pro supports institutional accounts, better margin rates, better order execution, API and advanced order types. Until IB Lite is on par with IB Pro, I'll continue to pay commissions.
